Materials for Swimming Pool Covers: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Very common for automatic and manual covers, strong and waterproof. Polyethylene: Often used for solar covers (the bubble-wrap-looking ones), lightweight and floats easily. Polypropylene: Durable fabric used for mesh covers that let water through but block debris. Vinyl: Heavier duty, used for safety covers (strong enough to hold weight if someone accidentally steps on it). Each type is UV-treated to resist sun damage and chlorine-resistant to last longer. Main Uses of Swimming Pool Covers: Keep debris out: Leaves, dust, insects stay out of the water. Reduce evaporation: Saves a lot of water loss, especially in hot areas. Maintain water temperature: Solar covers trap heat, cutting down heating costs. Safety: Special covers prevent kids or pets from falling in. Save chemicals: Less evaporation = less chemical loss = lower maintenance costs. Winter protection: Some heavy covers protect the pool when it's closed for the season.
